Duo Google Companion

For Google Discover in Duo Launcher

The Google app provides its Discover feed only to system apps and to debuggable apps. Duo Launcher is neither, so it connects through this companion: a tiny, deliberately debuggable helper, signed with the same key as Duo, that forwards the feed unchanged. It has no settings, stores nothing, and has no network access of its own. Google Play does not carry debuggable apps, which is why it is downloaded here instead.

Install

  1. Download DuoCompanion-<version>.apk from the release page above. Match the version to your Duo Launcher; the two are released together.
  2. Open the file. Android asks to allow installs from your browser the first time.
  3. Return to Duo and swipe right from the first Home page, or tap the compass. Duo uses the companion automatically.

Only apps signed with Duo's key can use the companion. Updating Duo Launcher does not require updating the companion unless the release notes say so.

Licence

Duo Launcher is paid software for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, licensed under its end user licence agreement; the companion is free to install beside it. Duo is an independent project, not affiliated with Google, Samsung or any device maker.
